How to Measure Your Door Opening for a Swinging Screen Door

Getting a perfect fit for your new custom swinging screen door takes only about 5 minutes. Follow these simple steps before placing your order.

• Order Format: Always record and submit your measurements as Width x Height (W x H).

Step 1: Gather Your Tools

• A standard tape measure

• Notepad and pencil to write down your measurements

Step 2: Measure the Width (3 Points)

Measure horizontally from the inside edge of the frame to the opposite inside edge at three different locations:

1. Top Width: Inside edge to inside edge at the top.

2. Middle Width: Inside edge to inside edge at the center.

3. Bottom Width: Inside edge to inside edge at the bottom.

Step 3: Measure the Height (3 Points)

Which side do the hinges go on?

Stand on the outside of your house facing the door:

• If the door opens inward toward the house, the screen door hinges should be placed on the side opposite your main door handle.

• If the door opens outward, place the screen door hinges on the same side as your main door handle.

What if my door is taller than standard sizes?

You are in the right place! While standard heights typically range from 76” to 80” tall, we can build custom swinging screen doors up to 96” tall. Simply select your custom dimensions when configuring your door, and we will build it exactly to your specifications.

To the original purchaser, Active Window Products warrants this product and its component parts to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of purchase.

Damage caused by accident, improper installation, or abuse, including but not limited to damage caused by pets, is specifically excluded from this warranty. Manufacturer’s liability on any claim shall not exceed the cost of the product.

In no instance shall manufacturer be responsible for consequential damage resulting from the use of this product. This warranty replaces any, and all previous warranties, either written, oral or implied, and is the only warranty made by this company.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have other rights which vary from state to state.

Special Instructions

In addition, the Cape Cod hinged swinging screen door cannot be cut down once made due to the custom nature of manufacturing. Therefore the Customer waives that BCS does not take responsibility for measurements.

In addition, the Customer is responsible for his or hers own measurements.  Likewise please provide door opening.  Similarly be sure sure to measure width in 3 places; at the top, middle and bottom.  As well as measure the height in two places; left and right sides.
