Today we will discuss how to measure a door opening to install a swinging screen door. FYI Hinges of the door can be placed on left or right side of the frame. Measure always width by height. Steps to Measure screen door for front door
Time needed: 5 minutes.
How to Accurately Measure Your Front Hinged Screen Door for Perfect Fit
- Gather Necessary Tools
Tape measure (at least 25 feet long)
Notepad and pencil for recording measurements - Measure the Width of the Door Opening
Top Width: Measure from the inside edge of the frame at the top.
Middle Width: Measure at the center of the frame.
Bottom Width: Measure from the inside edge at the bottom.
Record Measurements: Note all three measurements and use the narrowest width as your final width for ordering.
- Measure the Height of the Door Opening
Left Height: Measure from the top of the frame to the bottom on the left side.
Center Height: Measure in the middle of the frame.
Right Height: Measure on the right side.
Record Measurements: Again, note all three measurements and use the shortest height as your final height for ordering.
