MEASURING: A. Determine where the door is to be installed

1. With the entry door closed, determine how far the door sticks out a. Is there a need to add a wood stop? b. Is there a need to use the Jamb extender? c. Is there a need to rebuild or add a whole new frame?

B. Measure at the previously determined location. As a result, you will get an accurate measurement.

1. Always measure width x height
2. Some doors are hand-locked and require identification a. Always from the outside b. Position of handle — right or left
3. Handle placement on security and combination doors is dead center a. If special placement is desired, state measurement from the top of the door to the center line of the handle and which side the handle is on

How to Measure Your Door Opening for a Swinging Screen Door

Getting a perfect fit for your new custom swinging screen door takes only about 5 minutes. Follow these simple steps before placing your order.

Important Golden Rules:

• Measure the Opening: Always measure the inside edge of the door frame opening, not your existing door.

• Order Format: Always record and submit your measurements as Width x Height (W x H).

• The Shortest Measurement Rules: Houses settle, and frames aren’t always perfectly square. Always use the narrowest width and the shortest height when ordering.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools

• A standard tape measure

• Notepad and pencil to write down your measurements

Step 2: Measure the Width (3 Points)

Measure horizontally from the inside edge of the frame to the opposite inside edge at three different locations:

1. Top Width: Inside edge to inside edge at the top.

2. Middle Width: Inside edge to inside edge at the center.

3. Bottom Width: Inside edge to inside edge at the bottom.

📝 Your Final Ordering Width: Look at all three numbers and write down the smallest (narrowest) measurement.

Step 3: Measure the Height (3 Points)

Measure vertically from the top inside edge of the frame down to the bottom sill/threshold at three different locations:

1. Left Height: Top to bottom on the far left side.

2. Center Height: Top to bottom right down the middle.

3. Right Height: Top to bottom on the far right side.

📝 Your Final Ordering Height: Look at all three numbers and write down the smallest (shortest) measurement.

Manufacturers Limited Warranty To the original purchaser, Active Window Products warrants this product and its parts to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Damage caused by accident, improper installation, or abuse, including but not limited to damage caused by pets, is specifically excluded from this warranty. Manufacturer’s liability on any claim shall not exceed the cost of the product. In no instance shall the manufacturer be responsible for consequential damage resulting from the use of this product. This warranty replaces any previous warranties, either written, oral, or implied, and is the only warranty made by this company. This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have other rights that vary from state to state.

Special Instructions

In addition, the Sentry – Security Screen Door cannot be cut down once made due to the custom nature of manufacturing. Sentry Security Sceeen Doors are mounted on the inside of the door frame Therefore, the Customer waives that BCS does not take responsibility for measurements. But the Customer is responsible for his or her own measurements. Likewise, please provide door opening.  Similarly, be sure to measure width in 3 places: at the top, middle, and bottom.  As well as measure the height in two places, the left and right sides.

Special Shipping Instructions:

Certainly, shipping prices for Assembled Sliding Screen Doors are for some locations in California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah, but not in rural areas, as defined by trucking companies.  Meanwhile, Rural areas will be shipped partially assembled plus are defined by shipping companies, and other states will be shipped Unassembled. Consumer takes full responsibility for measurements and installation. We recommend that you use a handyman service to install.
