A. Determine where the door is to be installed
- With the entry door closed, determine how far the door now sticks out
a. Is there a need to add a wood stop?
b. Is there a need to use a jamb extender?
c. Is there a need to rebuild or add a whole new frame?
B. Measure at the previously determined location
- Always measure width x height
- Some doors are handed and require identification
a. Always from the outside
b. Position of the handle — right or left - Handle placement on security and combination doors is dead center
a. If special placement is desired, state measurement from the top of door to the center line of the handle and which side the handle is on
How to Measure Your Door Opening for a Swinging Screen Door
Getting a perfect fit for your new custom swinging screen door takes only about 5 minutes. Follow these simple steps before placing your order.
Important Golden Rules:
Measure the Opening: Always measure the inside edge of the door frame opening, not your existing door.
Order Format: Always record and submit your measurements as Width x Height (W x H).
The Shortest Measurement Rules: Houses settle, and frames aren’t always perfectly square. Always use the narrowest width and the shortest height when ordering.
Step 1: Gather Your Tools
A standard tape measure
Notepad and pencil to write down your measurements
Step 2: Measure the Width (3 Points)
Measure horizontally from the inside edge of the frame to the opposite inside edge at three different locations:
Top Width: Inside edge to inside edge at the top.
Middle Width: Inside edge to inside edge at the center.
Bottom Width: Inside edge to inside edge at the bottom.
📝 Your Final Ordering Width: Look at all three numbers and write down the smallest (narrowest) measurement.
Step 3: Measure the Height (3 Points)
Measure vertically from the top inside edge of the frame down to the bottom sill/threshold at three different locations:
Left Height: Top to bottom on the far left side.
Center Height: Top to bottom right down the middle.
Right Height: Top to bottom on the far right side.
📝 Your Final Ordering Height: Look at all three numbers and write down the smallest (shortest) measurement.
Cannot be cut down. Make sure you measure correctly.
In addition, the El Dorado Swinging Screen Door cannot be cut down once made due to the custom nature of manufacturing. Therefore the Customer waives that BCS does not take responsibility for measurements.
In addition, the Customer is responsible for his or her measurements. Likewise please provide a door opening. Similarly, be sure to measure width in 3 places; at the top, middle, and bottom. As well as measure the height in two places; left and right sides.
Note: This door cannot be cut down once manufactured. Measurements are the customer’s responsibility.

Because our custom screen doors and large window screens (over 46 inches) are fully built and highly fragile, they cannot ship via standard parcel carriers like UPS or FedEx. We utilize specialized freight and regional trucking networks to deliver them safely.
📍 How We Ship to Your State
West Coast Metro Areas (Fully Assembled): We ship out of our Los Angeles and Las Vegas facilities. Shipping fully assembled product is highly affordable for metropolitan locations within CA, AZ, NV, NM, WA, OR, ID, and UT.
Rural West Coast Areas: Areas defined as rural by our regional carriers cannot accept fully assembled freight. These orders will ship partially assembled via FedEx or UPS.
East Coast & All Other States (Unassembled Kits Recommended): Due to extremely high cross-country freight costs, orders outside our West Coast zone ship Unassembled. Your product will arrive as a high-quality, easy-to-assemble kit to keep your shipping costs affordable and prevent transit damage. If a customer chooses to ship a Fully Assembled Screen Door, please be advised that the shipping will be expensive.

Lead Time: Every item is custom made-to-size. Please allow 10 to 15 business days for production before shipment.
No Returns: Because these are fabricated to your exact specifications, custom orders cannot be returned or changed once production begins.
Measurements: The buyer takes full responsibility for sizes. We highly recommend using a handyman service for installation if you are unsure.
📦 Strict Delivery Inspection (Action Required)
A signature is required upon delivery. You must inspect the package before signing.
Visible Damage: If the box is damaged, refuse the delivery and do not sign for it. Note the damage on the driver's slip. If you sign for a damaged package, you become ineligible for a freight claim.
Concealed Damage: If the box looks good but the product inside is damaged, email photos of the box and product to bestcustomscreens@gmail.com within 24 hours.
Replacements: Carrier claims take 30 to 60 days, but we can initiate your replacement product as soon as the initial freight claim is filed.
